6-day Chair Making Course, - 15th June - 20th June 2010 (14:00 - June 15th, 2010)
Venue - 'Spinney Hollow' Fair Oak, Hampshire
Price - £320 
Experience the satisfaction of turning a freshly cut log into a beautiful chair using simple hand tools.
Set in a Beautiful Hampshire woodland near Fair Oak.  In the open air workshop you will learn to cleave the wood and then shape the parts of the chair with a draw-knife and pole-lathe.
Using ancient, traditional techniques you will be guided through the process of steam bending the legs and then assembly of the chair.
Each participant should leave with a chair that will last for generations.
  
The course starts at 2.00pm with a brief induction, then tuition begins. Teaching is from 9.30am - 5.00pm each day. Participants will be able to continue with their projects after hours should they wish to do so.
The course ends at around 6pm on the sixth day.
All tools and materials are provided. There is an additional cost for seating materials between £6 for sisal and £25 for hemp.
 
Food is not included in the course price. A food kitty can be arranged and shopping brought to the course venue. Meals can be prepared in the outdoor kitchen.
 
Participants wishing to stay in the woodland for the duration of the course can pitch a tent for free or stay in a prepared bell tent for £20.
